It is also designed to generally allow for a cable release to be used, but note that if you use it on a 60mm or 80mm CF lens, the thumb protrusion may just interfere with a fitted cable release if the focus ring is turned all the way to its very end/closest focus setting, as does the Hasselblad Quick Focusing Handle 1 CF.
